Description
No. 7, St Ethelbert Street is a late 18th-century house. It is constructed of brick with a Welsh slate roof and brick stacks to the end and rear. The house is three storeys high with a cellar, and has a three-window front. The central window is an 8/8 sash with old glass, flanked by 20th-century plain sashes, all set beneath gauged brick arches. The first floor has a 4/4 sash flanked by 2/2 sashes, and a blocked opening, all with segmental brick arches. A blocked opening is present to the far left, also beneath a gauged brick semicircular arch. The right-hand entrance features a 19th-century four-panel door with a fanlight, set in a semicircular gauged brick arch. The left return side has a tier of 6/6 and 3/3 sashes to the rear wing.
The interior contains an 18th-century dogleg staircase with stick balusters. On the second floor are four-panel doors. The first floor features an 18th-century marble fire surround, four-panel doors with architraves, and further four-panel doors. The ground floor has panelling. The cellar contains a plank door, an elm stair, original partitions, and is mostly stone-lined.
