Description
This building is a barn, now used as stables, located about 20 metres north-west of Hardwick House. It dates from the 17th century and has undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. The structure is timber-framed with rendered infill, resting on a coursed rubble plinth, and is topped with a slate roof. It features three framed bays that run east to west, with a central area that was originally a threshing floor. The south front has half-height sliding doors in the centre, flanked by pairs of single-light casement windows on each side. The framing consists of four square panels high. The gable-end trusses include four struts to the collar and V-struts at the apex. This barn is included for its group value with nearby structures.
