Description

Fig Tree House and Grosmont House is a house that has been divided into two separate residences. The core of the building dates back to the 14th or 15th century, with a cross-wing added in the 16th century, and later alterations and additions made in the 20th century. The structure is timber-framed, featuring a sandstone rubble plinth, painted brick infill, and significant brick refacing and extensions from the 20th century. It has a Welsh slate roof.

Originally, the hall range was aligned east to west, but it now has a gable facing the south front. The cross-wing is located at the west end, with further additions at the east end and to the rear. There are lateral stacks present. The entrance to Grosmont House is located to the right within the 20th-century additions, while the entrance to the cross-wing, now known as Fig Tree House, is found on the right return.

The building has two storeys, with the gable end of the cross-wing on the left featuring a jettied upper storey and a pendant on the right-hand side. There is a three-light casement window. To the right, the 20th-century brick gable includes a 12-pane glazing bar sash window and a part-glazed door to the left, along with a three-light window to the right. The central truss of the former hall is noted to retain open arched bracing with cusped members.
