Description
The Old Post Office and Old Post Office Cottage is a house dating from the 15th century, with alterations from the 17th century and late 19th century. It features a timber frame with a sandstone rubble plinth, and the south front is completely rendered, while the rear shows some square panelled framing. The roof is made of Welsh slate. Originally, the building had a central hall flanked by cross-wings, which have been cut back on the south front. It is now divided into two tenements. The building has axial and lateral stacks and is two storeys high. The left cross-wing has a hipped roof and includes one 2-light casement window and a 3-light bay window. The hall range on the right has four 2-light casement windows and one 3-light casement window. The ground floor features a four-panelled door with a bay window, a half-glazed door, and a former shop window with four lights to the right, along with a 2-light casement window to the left of a ledged door and a garage entry at the right end. Inside, the building retains a central cruck truss in the former hall, which has two bays.
