Description
The Gate House is a house that retains one bay of a 14th or 15th century hall. It was largely refronted and remodeled in the late 19th century, with further additions made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick on a sandstone rubble plinth and has a Welsh slate roof. It consists of a single bay with a 20th century addition to the east that encloses a gable-end stack. The entrance bay is now located in this 20th century addition on the east return. The house has two storeys and features two 9-pane 20th century glazing bar sash windows and a pair of 6-pane 20th century glazing bar sash windows on the right side. The ground floor includes a canted bay window on the left, a 6-pane sash window, and a pair of 8-pane 20th century glazing bar sash windows on the right. The building is noted for the survival of a 14th or 15th century truss that was formerly in the east gable end but is now enclosed by the 20th century addition.
