Description
No 5 on Church Road is a house that likely dates from the mid- to late 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The building is constructed of painted rubble and features a stone-tiled roof that is laid in diminishing courses, along with a brick stack at the north end. It stands two storeys high and has three bays.
On the ground floor, there are two 2-light casement windows from the 19th century, each with cambered brick heads. The first floor has three small 2-light casement windows, also from the 19th century. The central entrance is highlighted by a gabled porch supported by timber posts, leading to a ledged and battened door that has a cambered brick head. At the rear, there is a single-storey flat-roofed extension added in the 20th century. The south end of the house is adjacent to No 4, and it is included in the listing for its group value.
