Description
Pilgrim Cottage, formerly known as Fair View, is a house located on Church Road in Eardisley. It is probably from the early 18th century but has undergone alterations and additions in the mid-20th century. The cottage is timber-framed with painted brick infill and has been refaced in painted rubble, topped with a stone-tiled roof laid in diminishing courses.
The building has two bays aligned north to south and features an external rubble chimney with a rebuilt detached brick stack at the north end. It is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers. The framing is exposed at the ends, showcasing three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with collar and tie-beam trusses supported by struts and V-struts above the collar.
On the west front elevation, the windows are 20th-century casements, including two ground floor three-light windows and two gabled dormers with cross-casements. The central entrance features a gabled canopy supported by shaped timber brackets and a half-glazed 20th-century door. There is also a 20th-century extension of two storeys at the rear of the north bay, along with a half-glazed 20th-century lean-to addition on the north side.
