Description
This is a dovecote located about 30 metres north-west of Luntley Court, dated 1673, with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed from timber-frame with rendered infill, sitting on a rubble plinth, and features a felt roof. The dovecote has a square plan and is gabled on all four sides, rising to two storeys with small openings in the gables. The main entrance is on the east wall and has a shaped doorhead that displays the incised date "1673." The 17th-century boarded door is adorned with decorative strap hinges. The roof is topped by a glover, also gabled on all sides. The framing consists of four square panels high with straight tension braces. Each truss has two collars, multiple struts, and curved V-struts at the apex. The bargeboards are intricately carved and feature pendant finials, while the projecting wall-plates have carved brackets. At the time of survey in 1987, the south-west corner was supported by timber shores.
