Description
This is a dovecote built in the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is made of limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, topped with a hipped, stone-tiled roof that has a central louvre.
The dovecote has a rectangular shape, measuring 5 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 4 meters high, and is oriented northeast to southwest. The exterior is tall and features a projecting string course. On the northeast elevation, there is a low rounded-arch doorway with moulded surrounds and a plank oak door. The southwest elevation has an oculus window that provided access for the doves.
Inside, the four walls are lined with ashlar nesting boxes. The roof structure consists of a pair of queen-post trusses and tenoned purlins. A later floor has been added, positioned 2.4 meters above ground level.
