GV II

Two barns. c1700 and mid-C18 with later alterations. Timber-frame, weatherboarded, on rubble plinth, corrugated iron and stone slate roof. L-plan, north/south barn of 6 framed bays with threshing floor north of centre, east/west barn of 4 bays, threshing floor west of centre, link block hipped to return of mid-C18. North/south barn: high plinth with ventilation slits (some blocked). Framing: single rectangular panels with straight tension braces; intermediate trusses have collar and tie- beam, ridge, trenched purlins, straight angle braces below tie-beam; gables: 3 queen struts to collar with V-struts in apex. East/west barn: framing: 2 square panels high to wall-plate; intermediate trusses have 2 raking struts and high collar, all the tie-beams now supported by iron girders; west gable: 3 queen struts to collar, V-struts in apex; east gable: 6 intersecting raking struts giving decorative effect. The interior of the link block not seen.
