Description
This barn, located immediately to the south-west of Lower House, dates from the late 17th century and has undergone some alterations. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a rubblestone plinth, extending up to the tie beam at the left gable end, and is topped with a slate roof. The barn includes two raking eaves dormers with weatherboarded hatches positioned above the wall-plate. Inside, the framing is visible, showcasing vertical posts and square panels, some of which have been renewed. The weatherboarded bay partitions are supported by long straight tension braces. The roof consists of double purlins arranged in four bays, with queen struts supporting the first truss from both the left and right end trusses, and raking struts connecting the tie beams to the principal rafters of the second and third trusses from the left. A stone threshing floor is present in the second bay from the left.
