Description
The ice house located immediately to the south-east of The Old Farmhouse is likely from the early 19th century. It is built from roughly coursed limestone rubble and features a segmental-headed entrance to a tunnel, which is blocked at the far end. The structure is covered by an earth mound, which was probably originally circular in shape but is now truncated on the south side with a rubble revetment wall. This mound is scheduled as a castle motte, indicating that it was likely constructed primarily to conceal the ice house.
