Description
This is a barn located immediately east of the Old School House in Bucknell, dating from the mid-17th century with later alterations. It features a timber frame clad in corrugated iron, resting on a rubblestone plinth, with weatherboarding just below the eaves at the front and above the tie beam on the right gable end. The roof is also covered in corrugated iron. The barn has two levels and includes four 20th-century plank doors and five eaves hatches, with a blind raking dormer above the center hatch. Inside, the framing is visible, consisting of square panels that have been partly renewed, with three panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate. The roof structure is a single-purlin design spanning five bays, featuring one queen-strut truss and raking struts connecting the tie beams to the principal rafters, along with curved principals and one cambered tie beam.
