Description
This barn, located approximately 5 meters south-east of Church Farmhouse, dates from the mid-17th century and has undergone some later alterations. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a rubblestone plinth, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The structure has two levels and includes six doorways, with eaves hatches on both the left and right sides, as well as a flat-roofed hatch that breaks the eaves to the right of the center.
Inside, the framing is visible, showcasing small square panels with three extending from the cill to the wall-plate. The interior also has weatherboarded partitions supported by long straight tension braces. The roof is a double-purlin design with four bays, featuring short braces connecting the wall posts to the tie beams, a combination of collar and tie beam trusses, and raking struts extending from the tie beams to the principal rafters.
