Description
Upper Castleton Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed rubble and has a tiled roof. The building features a three-room plan, with a gable stack on the left side that has a brick flue, and a ridge stack situated between the two left rooms. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a central pediment that includes a lunette for attic lighting.
There are three windows on the upper floor, arranged in a 6:4:6 pane configuration with recessed exposed sash boxes. To the left of the centre, there are two equal-armed cross tie rod terminals. On the ground floor, there are two angled bay windows, each topped with hipped tile roofs, flanking a central entryway. This entry features a 19th-century gabled canopy and a six-panelled door, with the upper four panels being glazed. Additionally, there is a rendered two-storey extension on the right side of the farmhouse.
