Description
22 and 23 High Street are shops and dwellings with a 19th-century front and a 17th-century core. The building features stucco over timber-frame construction and has a 20th-century hipped pantile roof. It is three storeys tall with a cellar and has a single-window range that includes a 20th-century, three-light casement and two 20th-century casements. The early 20th-century shopfront has a half-glazed panelled door with a plain overlight situated between canted plate-glass windows, along with a moulded fascia-board and hood.
On the right side, the building has stucco with 17th-century and later timber-framing that includes brick infill. It features a 20th-century light and a late 19th-century two-over-two sash window in a moulded case, along with a 19th-century three-over-three sash and a two-light casement on the second floor. There is a 20th-century door and a blocked light. The rear has a 20th-century stack and a reduced massive rubble stack. The wing has a canted gable with a hoist-door under a leaded light, and a parallel wing with a 20th-century light in a roughcast gable, above painted rubble with a 19th-century part-glazed door in a moulded case.
