Description
Town Farmhouse, along with adjoining cottages and a water pump, is a Grade II listed building dating from around 1800 for the farmhouse and late 18th century for the cottages, with the water pump added in the 19th century. The structure is built of brick and features pantile roofs, cogged eaves, two gable stacks, and a single ridge stack.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a symmetrical layout with two bays on each side. The cottages to the south have two symmetrical facades facing east, each with two central Yorkshire sash windows flanked by single panelled doors set in plain jambs. Above these doors are two additional Yorkshire sash windows. The south gable of the cottages has a blocked opening above.
Adjoining the cottages to the south is a 19th-century cartshed with a single bay, which has two small blocked casement windows on the west side. The farmhouse features a central half-glazed door in timber jambs on the east side, flanked by single glazing bar sashes, all topped with segmental rubbed brick heads. Above this door are two smaller glazing bar sashes. The south gable of the farmhouse has a 20th-century casement window. On the north gable, there is a glazing bar sash window with a segmental rubbed brick head to the left, and to the right, an 18th-century plank door with moulded jambs and a heavy timber lintel. The west side of the farmhouse has 20th-century windows.
Outside, there is a 19th-century water pump made of lead with a timber case and a straight iron handle, along with a stone drip trough.
