Description
The gateway at Upton Hall was built in 1832 by W. J. Donthorn. It is made of brick and stucco, featuring an ashlar plinth and coping, as well as a cornice and parapet. The structure is single storey and consists of a single bay. The southeast front has a central round-headed opening with a keystone, which is flanked by single recessed panels. Above this opening is a stepped parapet adorned with a foliate panel and a shell. On either side of the gateway, there are two round-headed recesses. Under the archway, each side features a plaster panel that includes cast copies of panels from the Elgin Marbles.
