Description
16 A-16E Millgate is a house that has been converted into flats. It was built in the early 19th century, altered in the mid-19th century, and converted to flats in 1981. The building is made of brick with stone dressings and features a gabled and hipped slate roof. It has a plinth, bands at the first and second floors, splayed lintels, a single side wall stack, and a slightly projecting right bay.
The structure has three storeys and a three-window range of plain sash windows, with three smaller plain sashes above. The central entrance features a plain wooden doorcase flanked by a Gothic arched scraper, topped with an open pediment on scroll brackets. The entrance includes a fielded six-panel door with an overlight, flanked by two larger plain sashes. The right end of the building has two plain sashes with segmental heads, with the left one being a dummy. Above this, there is a flat-headed plain sash on the left. Below, there is a central doorcase with brick pilasters and a flat hood, featuring a 20th-century six-panel door and overlight, with plain sashes with segmental heads on either side, the right one being larger.
