Description

The buildings at 7 and 9 Millgate comprise two houses and what was formerly a cafe. They were built in the early and mid-19th century, with later 20th-century alterations and a reconstructed right gable. The buildings are constructed of brick, with pantile roofing. Features include a 20th-century rendered plinth, rebated eaves, and a central ridge stack. The two-storey facade has a three-window arrangement, with a recessed sash window flanked to the left by a blank space and to the right by a plain sash. Below, there are two segment-headed sash windows, alongside a segment-headed entry with a close-boarded door. To the left of this is another entry with a segment-headed door, and to the right a plain sash and a 19th-century six-panel door, both with segmental heads. The interior contains chamfered span beams and a small, early 19th-century fireplace.
