Description

LINBY HALL LANE SK 55 SW (east side) 1/74 The Limes G.V. II Farmhouse, now a house. Late Cl7 and late Cl9. Coursed and squared rubble and brick, with slate roofs. Ashlar dressings, quoins, coped gables with finials. 2 ridge and 2 gable stacks, one of them external. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Square plan. Windows are margin light and plain sashes. West front has 3 gables, those to left each with a roundel. Central flat roofed rendered porch with glazed door and fanlight. Flanked to left by a sash. Beyond, single flat roofed canted bay windows. Above, 3 sashes with a round window between the pair to the left. North side has to left early C20 canted bay window. To right, and above to left, a sash. South side has late C19 additions to right. C20 casement to left and C20 conservatory to right. Above, 2 sashes. Rear elevatiion has to left, C20 flat roofed porch. To its right, a casement, a sash and a glazed door. Above, to right, round window flanked to left by a Yorkshire sash and to right by a blocked opening. 2 gables to right have each a round window, that to left blocked.
