Description
Western House is a farmhouse and adjoining service wing, now a house, built around 1775 with a mid-19th century addition. The structure features coursed and squared rubble with a slate roof, along with ashlar dressings and moulded eaves. It has three gable stacks and two ridge stacks, standing two storeys tall with six bays in an L-plan layout.
The east front includes a 20th-century gabled porch on the left, flanked by single casements with segmental heads. To the right, there is a 20th-century bow window and two casements. Further to the right is a lower two-storey service wing with two garage doors. Above this, there are Yorkshire sashes, with two to the left and one to the right, and the service wing features two Yorkshire sashes with segmental heads.
The rear elevation has an off-centre gabled wing with a slab roof lean-to addition, alongside a lean-to 19th-century addition in the return angle. To the left, there is an 18th-century mullioned casement, and to its right, there is irregular fenestration from the 19th and 20th centuries. The north gable has a keystoned barred casement, with a Yorkshire sash above it. This building is included for its group value only.
