Description
Town Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, dating from around 1770, with later additions from the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from coursed and squared rubble and brick, topped with a concrete tile roof. It features a single external gable stack and is two storeys high with an attic, arranged in an irregular L-plan with two bays.
The north front showcases a 19th-century panelled door, which is flanked on the left by a flush mullioned casement and on the right by a stepped forward wing that contains two casements. To the right of this wing is a 19th-century brick lean-to addition with a slate roof, which includes a side wall stack, a door, and a casement. Above this addition, there is one 18th-century and one 20th-century casement. The west gable features a mullioned window in the attic, while the rear of the building has a 20th-century door and window arrangements.
Inside, the farmhouse contains two 18th-century oak doorcases and a Tudor arched lintel, along with an 18th-century plank door. There is also a restored softwood winder stair and a late 19th-century dogleg stair with a winder. The roof structure includes a 19th-century kingpost roof truss.
