Description
Forest Hill House is a villa-style house built in the mid 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features hipped slate roofs. The building has two storeys plus attics, with two stacks on the side walls and four stacks on the rear walls. It is designed in an L-shape and consists of five bays.
The west front includes a two-storey canted bay window on the left, which has three plain sashes on each floor. To the right of this bay, there are two plain sashes on each floor. The south front features a central blocked doorway with an overlight, flanked by round-headed recessed bays that contain single plain sashes with stucco lintels. Above this, there is a central plain sash with a moulded architrave, flanked by two single plain sashes with stucco lintels. Further up, there is a flat-roofed dormer with six casements.
On the east front, there is an off-centre pedimented porch with a lintel band and a 20th-century door with an overlight. To the left of the porch, there is an oriel bow window with three casements, and to the right, a mullioned and transomed leaded casement. A projecting wing to the right features a tripartite sash, followed by a single plain sash. Above this wing, there are three plain sashes.
