Description

Grafton Lodge is a villa dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of stucco with a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate, featuring a stuccoed stack on the right-hand side and a corner stack at the rear. The house has two storeys and a cellar, and originally had a five-window front. The windows are mostly 6/6 sashes, each set beneath a joined cambered hood moulding. The central entrance is marked by a panelled door with glazed panels, sheltered by a stone hood supported on plain columns. To the right of the entrance is a two-tier canted bay window with 6/6 sashes, while to the left is a tripartite window with sashes of 4/4, 6/6, and 4/4, also under a cambered hood. The right-hand return side has a prominent two-tier canted bay window with 6/6 sashes, and a tier of plain sashes. The left-hand return side features a three-storey rear wing with two tiers of 6/6 sashes and a simple entrance porch. Further wings, including a two-storey wing and a service wing, extend from the main body of the house.
