Description
Barwood House is a farmhouse dating from the 18th century. It features a sandstone plinth, brick and timber-frame construction, and a Welsh slate roof with a brick external end stack. The building has a rectangular plan oriented west-south-west to east-north-east and includes a cellar, two storeys, and an attic.
The south elevation has three windows, which are 2-light mid-20th century steel casements set under cambered heads. There is a central glazed porch from the late 20th century. A plat band and a dentilled brick eaves cornice add to the architectural detail. To the right side, there is a one-storey extension that has one window and a plat band. The rear elevation of this extension reveals exposed timber-frame construction with three square panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate. Inside, the house features heavy ceiling beams.
