Description

The building is a water tower, dating to the later 19th century. It is constructed of polychrome brick, ashlar, and coursed rubble, with a lead roof. The base is of stone rubble and contains two fanlight casements set within polychrome brick semicircular arches, with ashlar springers and keyblocks. There is also a plank door and an ashlar semicircular arch. A battered ashlar plinth is present, and the returned east side has double doors, along with an inserted 20th-century casement.

The north and south frontages feature three tiers of paired windows, each set within a polychrome semicircular brick arch, with a central brick mullion and ashlar pilasters. A cornice runs along the top of this section, above semicircular polychrome arches containing herringbone panels. The tank storey is of yellow brick, featuring a machicolation, eaves cornice, and an arcaded parapet. The east and west frontages have a single tier of similar windows, but without the central pediment.
