Description
No. 86 Broomy Hill is a lodge, now a house, built in the later 19th century. It features a stucco exterior over brick and has a lead-like roof with rendered end stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The central window is a 2/2 sash with a corbelled sill, flanked by taller 2/2 sashes that are fronted by open bays supported by enriched columns and pilasters. The eaves are deep and bracketed, and there is a parapet with a recessed band and pilasters, along with canopies over the bays.
The central entrance consists of a glazed door with an overlight, situated between pilasters and flanked by canted bays with plain sashes. There is a storey band and corner pilasters. On the left and right sides, there are round-headed 2/2 sashes and blocked openings beneath segmental arches with modillioned hood-mouldings. The brick rear wing contains a 2/2 casement window. The eaves are deep and bracketed, with parapets that include chimneys with corner pilasters.
The rear features a 20th-century casement and a blocked opening under modillioned hoods, as well as urn finials on the parapet and a returned storey band. The building is included for its group value.
