Description
Two houses, Eden Holme and Gwynfa, were built in the 19th century. They are constructed of stucco with a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate. A brick ridge stack runs across the centre, and there is a brick stack to the right of the front elevation. The houses have a four-window front, with French windows and casements leading to a cast-iron verandah. Late 19th-century 2/2 sash windows are positioned in advanced bays, with deep, bracketed eaves. The ground floor has similar French windows flanked by canted bays featuring 1/1: 2/2: 1/1 casement windows with deep moulded cornices. The returns sides have part-glazed panelled doors with side-lights, sheltered by porticos, flanked by 2/2 casement windows above.
Inside No.50 (Eden Holme), a winder staircase has turned balusters, a moulded rail, and a cluster newel. There are also rear winder stairs. On the first floor, there are two 19th-century fireplaces, a frieze, and four-panel doors with architraves. The ground floor has four-panel doors with architraves, a marble fireplace, a ceiling cornice, and shutters with panelled reveals to the windows. A stone-lined cellar contains a plank door and wine bins. No.52 (Gwynfa) was not inspected, but appears to have similar stairs and doors.
