Description
The Church of St Martin is a parish church built around 1844 by architect RW Jearrad, with the chancel added in 1894 by Nicholson and Sons. It is constructed of ashlar sandstone and features a Welsh slate roof. The church includes a nave, north and south transepts, a chancel, and a north porch tower.
The nave is distinguished by five lancet windows set under plain pointed arches, positioned between stepped buttresses, and has shouldered mouldings and a corbelled parapet. The transepts each have a triple light window under a moulding with figure-head stops and corner buttresses. The chancel is adorned with five-light windows. The north doorway features a battered plank door beneath a moulded pointed arch supported by pilasters, with decorated spandrels. The tower has a plain light and a brooch-spire topped with a weathercock.
Inside, the church has a hammerbeam-derived roof and stained glass in the east window as well as in the north and south transept windows. The chancel is enhanced by blind arcading.
