Description

Merryhill Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse, likely with earlier origins and later additions. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with brick dressings, sandstone ashlar, and squared sandstone. The roof is tiled, and there are brick stacks. The building has a roughly rectangular plan aligned north-south, with the main front facing west and a stone tower to the north end. It is two storeys high. The west elevation has a 1:3 window arrangement. The right-hand part of the elevation features 3-light casement windows under segmental brick arches, a brick plat band, a dentilled brick eaves cornice, and a central gabled porch dating to the mid-19th century. The stone tower to the left includes a blocked first-floor window and merlons with moulded cornices. The interior features heavy ceiling beams on the ground floor.
