Description
Hall Cottage is a cottage built in 1852, constructed from coursed limestone and ironstone rubble with ashlar dressings. It features a black glazed pantile roof with one stone and one yellow brick gable stack. The front has three bays and two storeys, with a plinth and quoins. The central door is a 19th-century planked door with original decorative iron furniture, set in a small stone gabled porch. This porch has a datestone inscribed 'ICT 1852', which refers to John Charles Thorold. On either side of the porch are two-light glazing bar casement windows with slightly advanced stone surrounds, aprons beneath, and decorative shaped gables above. The fields of both the aprons and gables are lightly pecked. Above the porch is a central single-light glazing bar casement window, flanked by two similar two-light windows, all featuring flat lintels and flush surrounds.
