Description

The Old Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has undergone alterations and additions in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with ashlar quoins and brick dressings, topped with a pantile roof and brick gable stacks. The cottage is a single storey plus attic and features a five-bay facade. At the right end, there is a 20th-century plain boarded door with a segmental brick head. To the left of the door is a single glazing bar sash window with a brick segmental head, followed by a small fixed light with a wooden lintel, and then two glazing bar casement two-light windows, each with segmental brick heads. The roof includes two 2-light casement dormers with sloping pantile roofs and rendered cheeks. To the right, there is a single-storey one-bay 19th-century extension with a glazing bar sash window.
