Description
The Stag Public House is a public house dating from the 17th century, with significant additions and alterations made in the late 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a pantile roof with two brick gable stacks and one off-centre ridge stack. The building has a two-storey, four-bay front, with a central 20th-century door and surround, flanked by single late 18th-century glazing bar sash windows that have flat lintels and splayed keystones. There are three similar windows on the first floor, all of which are fitted with 20th-century Venetian shutters. To the right, there is a single-storey block that is dated 1857 on the gable. The left-hand gable shows the shape of a 17th-century house, indicating that the building has been raised and re-fronted over time.
