Description
No 28 in Market Place is a house that has been converted into a care home. It dates from the 17th century, with late 18th century and 20th century alterations. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with some areas rendered and painted stucco dressings. It features a slate roof that is hipped to the south and has a stone-coped gable to the north. The structure has a single ridge stack and is designed in a T plan.
The front of the building has three storeys and was raised in the 18th century. It has a four-bay façade, with three 20th century glazing bar sash windows on the right side. The left side has a window that was inserted into a blocked doorway. All windows have painted stucco wedge lintels. To the left, there is a large 20th century polygonal bay window with six narrow glazing bar casements. Above this bay window, there are four glazing bar sashes, with four smaller glazing bar sashes above them, all featuring painted stucco wedge lintels. There is also a doorway located at the rear of the building.
