Description
No. 16 Market Place is a house dating from the late 18th century, with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of red brick with painted ashlar dressings and features a mansard pantile roof with stone-coped gables and gable stacks.
The building has two storeys and an attic, with a three-bay front that includes a first-floor band. The central doorway is highlighted by a semi-circular headed doorcase, which has a raised keystone, a fanlight, and a deeply set panelled door. On either side of the doorway are single 20th-century cross mullion casements. Above the door, there is a blind panel flanked by additional 20th-century cross mullion casements. All the windows and the panel above the door have painted brick wedge lintels with raised ashlar keystones.
