Description

No. 17 Bedford Street is a house dating from the earlier 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in a header bond pattern, with an ashlar plinth, quoins, and a first-floor band. The roof is a 20th-century tile mansard. The building has a four-window facade with flush sash windows, featuring glazing bars. The first-floor windows are older, with thicker glazing bars and broader, moulded frames, and the second window on this floor is blind. A six-panel door, set within panelled reveals and accessed by two steps, occupies the ground floor entrance. The door is flanked by shepherd’s crook pilaster-brackets supporting a moulded flat hood. A wood modillion eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. Red brick stacks are located at both gable ends.
