Description
No 22 Market Place is a house with a shop, built in 1801, with some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of red brick and coursed limestone rubble, with some areas covered in colourwashed render. It features a pantile mansard roof with stone-coped gables, decorated eaves, a single gable stack, and a single ridge stack at the rear. The structure is L-shaped, with two storeys and an attic, and has a single bay front.
The shop front, which dates from the 20th century, includes a deep-set doorway on the left with a panelled door, and two fixed shop windows to the right, each with four panes of glass. Above, there is a single glazing bar sash window with a wooden lintel. A flat-headed dormer window with a small glazing bar sash is also present. The north gable displays a datestone inscribed with "J.B. 1801." At the rear, there is a cottage that has three bays, featuring a doorway on the right with a partially glazed door, two plain sash windows to the left, and two two-light sliding sashes above. A wooden lean-to veranda is located at the front.
