Description

The Old Cottage is a 1768 cottage with later additions from the mid-19th century and 20th century. It is constructed of red brick with a steeply pitched pantile roof, rendered coped gables, and a single gable stack on the right-hand side. The cottage is single-storied with an attic, and has a three-bay front. The central doorway has a segmental head and a partially glazed door, surrounded by a 20th-century glazed lean-to. Above the doorway, a stone inscription reads "SAS 1768". Flanking the doorway are single three-light sliding sash windows, each with an upper transom, a segmental head, and a raised keystone. Two raking dormers are above the windows, each with a two-light casement. An outshut is located at the rear.
