Description

No. 21 High Street is a shop building dating from the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of colourwashed red brick, with some render at the base, and features a slate roof with a left gable stack and paired bracketed eaves. The building is two and a half storeys high and has two bays.

The late 19th-century shop front includes a recessed doorway with a glazed door that has a single panel at the base. The wood framing around the glass has decorative edging. To the right of the doorway is a single light canted shop window, while to the left is a tripartite window. Both windows have single transoms and are divided by single wooden colonnettes with decorative motifs that fan out from the capitals. Flanking the shop front are single fluted strips, and there is an entablature above. The upper part of the building features two glazing bar sashes, with two smaller similar sashes positioned above them.
