Description

Cumper's DIY Stores is a shop located on Market Street in Long Sutton, dating from the early 19th century, with a later 19th-century shop front and some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of red brick and features a hipped slate roof with a single ridge stack. It stands three storeys tall and has a two-bay front facing Market Street and another two-bay front facing Park Lane, with a curved single corner bay that includes a doorway with a part-glazed and panelled door set within a moulded door case.

On the left side of the Market Street front, there is a large late 19th-century glazing bar shop window, while on the right side in Park Lane, there is a smaller similar window. Both windows are flanked by single pilasters with dosserets, and the pilasters are enclosed on the Market Street side. An entablature extends over both the windows and the door. To the left in Market Street, there is a single 20th-century fixed light, and on the far left, a segmental arched fixed glazing bar light in a former doorway. To the right of the shop window in Park Lane, there is a single glazing bar sash window. Above the doorway, there is a giant order recessed blind panel. On the left side, there are two 20th-century glazing bar casements, and on the right, a single plain sash window. The top floor features two smaller glazing bar sashes on the left and a single similar sash on the right. The ground floor window in Park Lane and the first and second floor windows all have flush wedge lintels.

Attached to the right in Park Lane is a two-storey single bay lean-to, which has a doorway with a panelled and part-glazed door, reveal, pilastered doorcase, and entablature. Above this doorway is a single semi-circular arched glazing bar fixed light. The building is included for its group value only.
