Description

Connaught House is a house dating from circa 1800, located on the north-east side of Market Street, Long Sutton. It is constructed of colourwashed rendered brick with some painted ashlar, and has a hipped slate roof with a large red brick lateral stack and a single red brick stack to the rear. The house is two and a half storeys high, with a three-bay front and quoins. The central doorway features a panelled door with a central moulded roundel and overlight, a panelled reveal, flanking fluted Ionic columns, an entablature, and a modillion cornice. Single, late 19th-century canted bay windows with raking lead roofs are positioned either side of the doorway, each with a single glazing bar sash flanked by single narrow glazing bar sashes. Three glazing bar sashes are above, with three similar smaller sashes on the top floor.
