Description
The Bull Hotel is a hotel located in Long Sutton Market Place, dating from the late 18th century to the early 20th century. The building is encased in brick, with mid-20th century alterations that retain some 18th century doors and windows. It features red brick, some blue brick, and render, topped with a hipped slate roof. The structure has two ridge stacks and a single rear lateral rendered stack, along with a raised eaves band.
The hotel is two and a half storeys tall and has seven bays. A basket-arched carriageway with blue brick jambs is present, with an early 20th century shop front to the left. This shop front includes a projecting canted shop window with plain fixed lights and casements above, alongside a recessed doorway featuring a part-glazed door and an entablature. To the right of the archway are two glazing bar sash windows, followed by a round-arched doorway with a fielded panelled door and a radiating fanlight. This doorway has a moulded surround with imposts flanked by single Ionic columns with fluted dosserets, supporting an open pediment.
On the far right, there is a single Venetian window with glazing bar sashes and a small key block. Above this, five glazing bar sashes are present, along with a single similar Venetian window on the right. The corresponding window pattern continues above, with smaller openings and the Venetian window lacking a key block. The right return wall features a doorway with a panelled door and a moulded doorcase with a patera. To the right of this doorway are two glazing bar sashes, while to the left is a single small plain sash and a single large plain sash on the far left. Above these, there are three glazing bar sashes, and on the top floor, two small glazing bar sashes.
