Description
The Feathers is a house that was formerly a public house, dating from the 17th century, with later additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and ashlar, topped with a pantile roof featuring ashlar coped gables. The building has brick stacks, one on the ridge and one on the gable. The structure is two storeys high, with a brick third floor added in the 19th century, and a bind that was removed around 1980.
The façade has four bays. On the west side, there is a blocked doorway, followed by two four-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows with hood moulds. Next is a 20th-century ashlar chamfered doorway, along with a two-light recessed and chamfered mullion window under a hood mould, another blocked doorway, and a three-light recessed and chamfered mullion window under a hood mould. Above these, there are three three-light and one two-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows, all under hood moulds. The west gable features a single three-light recessed and chamfered mullion window under a hood mould.
