Description

The Rectory is a building that dates back to 1565, with later additions from the late 18th century and late 19th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features ashlar slate roofs, complete with ashlar coped gables and bracketed wooden eaves. The building has two large moulded ashlar gable stacks and flush ashlar quoins.

The east entrance front, which was modified in the late 19th century, is a two-storey, four-bay structure. It has an off-centre doorway that features a six-panel door with a rectangular overlight, surrounded by a moulded door frame and a flat hood supported by brackets. To the right of the door is a single glazing bar sash window, while to the left are two similar sashes. Above this entrance, there are four additional sashes that match the lower windows.

The west garden front, which dates from the late 18th century, is a three-storey, five-bay facade. It has a central doorway with double glazed doors, flanked by tall single glazing bar sashes. To the right, there is a large canted bay window from the 19th century with plain sash windows, and to the left is a smaller glazing bar sash. The upper level features five glazing bar sashes, with the leftmost being smaller, and above that are four small glazing bar sashes. All the windows are topped with flat ashlar lintels that have raised keystones. Notably, on the south gable wall, there is a doorway with a lintel inscribed 'JOANNES DEE 1565'.
