Description

High House is a house dating from the late 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone rubble and ashlar, with a slate roof featuring ashlar coped gables and two moulded ashlar gable stacks. The exterior features flush quoins and a plinth, with raised bands marking the first and second floors. The house is arranged over two and a half storeys and has a three-bay front. The central doorway is round-headed and contains a six-panel door with an ornate fanlight above, set within a moulded ashlar surround incorporating small brackets supporting an open pediment. To either side of the doorway are single plain sash windows in plain raised surrounds. Above these, there are three similar sashes, and above those again, three smaller glazing bar sashes in similar surrounds. A single-storey extension is located to the north, while a substantial two-storey addition dating from the early 19th century, with a slate hipped roof, extends to the rear.
