Description
The Hare and Hounds Public House is a public house that was originally a house, dating from the 17th century with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and brick dressings, topped with a pantiled roof featuring stone coped gables, a single ridge, and two gable stacks.
The building has a five-bay, two-storey front with attics. The entrance is off-centre and features a 19th-century door with an overlight and a flat hood supported by brackets. To the left of the door, there is a three-light casement window, a blocked doorway with a segmental brick head, and another three-light casement window. To the right of the door is a 19th-century canted bay window that has a single glazing bar sash, a moulded cornice, and a flat lead roof.
On the first floor, there are three triple-light glazing bar casements. All windows, except for the bay window, have brick segmental heads and decorative brick surrounds. In the roof, there are three two-light Yorkshire sashes located in gabled dormers with rendered cheeks.
