Description

Fulbeck Manor is a country house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions from the 18th and late 19th centuries. It is built of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a slate roof with stone coped gables topped with pyramidal finials and two stone ridge stacks on the main north front. The house is designed in an L-plan and has two storeys with a five-bay front that includes garrets.

The central entry bay is advanced and gabled, rising to three storeys and topped with a finial. The entrance features a recessed panelled door set in a moulded surround with a semicircular head and an emphasized keystone, topped by a moulded cornice. The upper floors contain single two-light casement windows with cornices. To the left of the entry bay is a six-light mullioned window, where the central pair of lights is united under a semicircular head, creating wider casements, followed by a three-light mullioned window. To the right, there is another six-light mullioned window with paired central lights, and beyond that, a four-light mullioned window. On the first floor, there are three four-light mullioned windows, with a single three-light window to the left. Most of these windows are late 19th century, but their style and positions likely reflect the original 17th-century arrangement.

The outer wall of the left-hand range features an external stack, probably from the early 17th century. At the rear of the main range, there is a central doorway with a moulded left-hand jamb, which is original to the 17th century. Inside, the house boasts a 17th-century staircase with spiral balusters and newel knobs, as well as a stone fireplace with a moulded four-centred arch.
