Description
The Old Chequers is a house that was formerly a public house, dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with some ironstone and features a corrugated asbestos roof, with brick ridge and end stacks set on stone bases. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window range. There is a 20th-century door to the right of centre, which has a stop-chamfered timber lintel. This door is flanked by two-light casement windows, with a one-light window to the far right and another two-light casement window to the far left. On the first floor, there is a two-light casement window, all of which have timber lintels. Inside, the property features chamfered spine beams and two open fireplaces with stop-chamfered bressumers.
