Description

This is an early 18th-century house, originally a bakehouse and public house, located on School Lane in Wappenham. The building is constructed of coursed squared limestone with a slate roof, brick ridge and end stacks on stone bases. It has a three-unit plan and two storeys with an attic. The front, facing south, has a 20th-century gabled stone porch with a 20th-century door located to the right of centre. The windows are mostly 2-light, 20th-century aluminium windows with timber lintels, although a similar 3-light casement window is on the far right. The ground and first floor windows to the far left have been blocked. The building features quoins and stone-coped gables with kneelers.

Inside, the house includes ogee stop-chamfered spine beams and an upper room with a moulded chair rail. A corner cupboard fitted with shaped shelves, a round-arched head, and a semi-domed interior are also present. A corner chimney piece made of early 18th-century grey marble with a fluted keystone is another feature. The building was formerly used as a bakehouse and was later the Royal Oak Public House.
